What will your 2019 look like? Do you want goals that are real, and attainable? If you have lived as long as I have, we have made a few haven’t we? Everyone’s talking about them.
What Is Everyone Talking About
Some of the goals people set for their New Year are just a little bit young for me, how about you? Believe me, I have set some of the same ones you have. Lose weight, get healthy, be more productive and there is nothing wrong with any of those goals, they just seem a little vague and very loose.
Are there some real things you would like to accomplish? Maybe you are satisfied with where you are right now? If not, looking forward to the New Year and deciding on a plan is the place to start.
Yesterday my Elite Blog Academy friend Ruth Soukup said something I really love.

Bottom line: think of goals as the compasses of our businesses.
We need a compass, one that is well written and well thought out. Goals can be just that, a compass. Something to guide us to a better place in our life in the future. You know that losing weight is not the ONLY goal we can plan for. We can make just about anything a goal if it is something YOU really want to achieve.
Here are some of my goals for 2019. I have so many swirling around in my mind that is really hard to pick just a few and if I don’t achieve all of them, that is okay. I am 57 years old now and I have learned that if you never aspire to meet a goal you most certainly will NEVER reach one. So I am going to shoot for the stars in 2019 and losing some weight is always in my list but not always number one.
What Will My 2019 Look Like
1. Eat healthier
How am I going to do this? First of all I am going to change the way I shop in the grocery store. I am going to stay out of the aisles and try to only shop in the perimeter of the grocery store. My daughter’s endocrinologist suggested this one time to her, she is a type 1 diabetic. I thought about that and it made a lot of sense. Most of the time fresh vegetables, fruit, dairy and meats are on the perimeter of the store. So staying out of the middle when it is not necessary is going to be part of my eat healthier goal.
2. Take my lunch to work 3 x a week
Now this may seem silly but if I don’t commit to this I will never achieve it. I can’t just keep saying, “I wish I had brought my lunch”. Nothing ever gets accomplished by wishing. So I am making it one of my goals.
3. Get up earlier
Now I hear grumbling going on out there. Don’t laugh, I already get up at 5:00 and I am still running out the door sometimes. I am going to get up just 15 min earlier each day. There are a few other goals that I need the extra time for.
4. Exercise 4 x a week
I am not going to commit to more than that. There is a gym I have access to in the morning and I have been using the treadmill already since November. I am running on it for 30 minutes and am really proud of myself, but that is not enough. My husband had a heart attack in 2016 and it has made me think about my heart health more.
5. Declutter my house
This is a biggie. We moved in May of this year. It was a big downsize. The move made me realize how much junk we have. Oh my goodness, why do we keep so many things. I just do not know how it happened but it did. So I do not want to clutter my closets and drawers up again.
You have to be intentional about this. This is a real problem for me, that is why I made it a goal. So under this goal will be subheadings. I am going to include a room by room sub goal, because declutter is too vague.
The first part of decluttering is going to be a broad sweep. So I have created a list of things to get rid of in 2019. It is not a completely exhaustive list of things to get rid of .
I have talked about this before, but I will say it again. Now is a good time to put on the Disney song, “Let It Go” and do just that. There are lots of things in our homes and lives that we need to let go. We keep moving them around and cleaning around them and we just need to let them go.
Be Brave
There is not a single thing on this list, Things To Get Rid Of in 2019 that is necessary or improves our lives. The list is just a starting point. Hopefully it will motivate you to go even farther and get rid of even more. Be brave and let those things go.
Be brave and start a new year looking forward to a new you. Challenge yourself to live different than last year. Make this the year you become healthier and carry a few less burdens and remember, it’s not all about being successful in all the goals set for 2019. Just reaching one of your goals may change the direction of your life and improve your situation.
