What Is Wrong With My Bathroom

The bathroom and kitchen are the 2 most important rooms in the house when you are selling.  They may not seemed to be the most important to you but to most people they are and if you are just glancing at this post you maybe having trouble selling your house.   If you are having trouble selling your house there is probably a very simple fix for this.  We have already discussed the kitchen, so let’s talk about the bathroom now.

Clean Your Bathroom

This is a very serious step to selling your house.  When I was little my dad was in the Air Force.  We lived in a little town called Mountain Home, Idaho.  Our home state is South Carolina.  The family vacation was traveling across the US in a Chevy Impala.  When it got close to time to go to bed my parents would look in the cities we traveled through for a motel.  Now if you don’t know about motels, well you pull your car up to the door.  Anyway we had to inspect the room before we stayed in it.  For real,  my mother got out of the car and went in and inspected the room because we were not staying just anywhere for the night.  So can you imagine what my mother would have said if the bathroom was not clean.  “No Dean we are not staying here.”  That is what she would have said.  So the same is true for your bathroom.  It has must be spotless.  That means the toilet, bathtub, shower and sink.  It all has

Clear the Sink Area Off

The same goes for your bathroom as the kitchen.  Clear your area around the sink off.  Put all hair dryers, make up containers, cotton ball holders and anything else that maybe on the sink away.  Put it all far, far away.  You want your bathroom to look like a hotel bathroom.  I know that maybe so hard to do, but do you want to stay in your house.

Make the Area Tidy

So maybe you like a lot of different grooming products.  Now is not the time to have them ALL around your shower and tub area.  Do the same here.  Clear the tub area off also.  Make it look like you have stepped into the newest nicest hotel you can think of.  Consider this a motel inspection.  You want to impress people with how clean it is.  Not necessarily how big it is or how pretty it is.  Try not to have anything in your bathtub’s surrounding area.  You want it spotless.

I can not stress this enough.  You want it clean. Clean like it has never been before.  If you have time you should really paint it a neutral color also.   I did not follow this rule but should have.  People like bathrooms painted in neutral colors.  It is really hard for them to see colors that are not neutral for themselves.  I will show you a picture of our bathroom.  The bathroom should have been painted before we tried to sell it, but it is one of the many projects we never finished.

 I really did clear everything off of my counters.  I like to have all my makeup there and blow dryer and all the other things you can imagine.  When showing your house to people it is better to keep it clean.

So if you are having trouble selling your house you may have to get rid of some things.  You will definitely have to clean, clean, clean and then clean some more. You will also have to declutter.  Both of those jobs will need should be done in the kitchen and the bathroom.  Selling a house maybe one of the most important things you ever do.  You may want to move to another one or your job maybe sending you to a new city.  Whatever the case you want to put the very best picture of your house out there every time someone steps in there.  Remember it may not be your realtor showing your house, so you want to make a good impression the first time someone comes there.  Make sure the bathroom and kitchen look clean and tidy every time they are shown.
