I need a routine in my life and bullet journaling helps me achieve that . Sometimes a crazy life needs to be more organized. Having a routines can change your life. Routines can make your life better. I have found that if I do not follow one I get into trouble. It has become part of my day as well as my week and month. When I miss part of my routine I usually end up at work or a meeting without some vital piece I need for work. I also like to know what is coming in the week ahead and think about the things approaching in the monthly future.
Chaos
I would say that chaos is what I used to have. I raised four children. At one time we were involved in school, dance, gymnastics, baseball, choir, band, well I hope you get the idea. It was exhausting to say the least. Some days I did not know if I was coming or going. Besides the activity overload I also needed a routine of some sort to help me keep on course. When my children’s school pictures came back and they looked like she just got out of bed I knew something had to change.
My Routines Back In The Day
I decided to get more organized. I wasn’t sure how I would do it but I knew I had to. I bought a huge 3 ring binder and got busy. I started making my own calendars and marking everyone’s appointments, birthday parties, games, events and life. It really helped. I wrote anything I wanted to in the binder. The biggest thing is taking it with you everywhere you go. I liked using the three ring binder, but I did find that it was a little big to carry around everywhere you go.
Bullet Journaling
Then I started reading about the bullet journal. This seemed to be right up my alley. I loved sitting down each month with my binder, writing my monthly appointments, weekly activities and all the other things we had to do. My binder was a big help, but the bullet journal is even better. It is a lot more portable. I slip it in my pocket book and take it everywhere. Because it is portable I tend to get most of my appointments in it. I bought my journal from Amazon.
Routines
When I did not have a routine that I kept life was chaos. When I started writing our routine down in the binder life got better. When I started using the dot journal I liked it even more. I sit down on Sunday and look at any appointment cards that I have. I write those appointments down as soon as possible. If I do not do this I lose the card or forget about the appointment. I could not tell you how many times my hair dresser texts and says, “Where are you?” It is embarrassing and irresponsible. The bullet journal helps me so much. In the morning I routinely open it up and glance at the day.
Monthly
So monthly I set it up.
Weekly
I add to my journal and prepare for the week.
Daily
I glance at it and make sure I have an idea of what it going on that day.
I have used this routine for the last few years. It has changed my crazy life and helped me to be more organized. I feel more in control of my day and prepared for the week. I have fewer surprises along the way. It helps me keep the crazy out of control feelings I used to have away. Using the bullet journal let’s me be creative and organized. I like to be both. I can draw, doodle and be in control of my days. I like that. Honestly, Janet
