When I asked my mom what she wanted for Mothers Day she said, “Nothing, I don’t need anything. ” I thought to myself isn’t that how a lot of us feel. I really do not need a thing, but I still wanted to honor my mother. I won’t be home this weekend so I did it earlier, but I really just want to tell you about my mom.
I probably mentioned a few times that we were a military family. Moving was just something we did as kids. My dad did two remote tours to Vietnam. I remember both of them well. We always moved by home to South Carolina during those times. I even remember taking my dad to the airport on those deployments and anticipating his return during the year after he left. Even though my father was gone my mother made our home a lot of fun and the memories are precious to me. She was always the consistent figure in our house. She never worked outside of our house. Well she did one brief time in one of the mills. Mother took us to church when daddy was gone and she took care of my brother and sister, alone. She knew what it was like to be a single parent. Because of her I can enjoy today!!! Thank you Mother for the gift of life. If you cannot thank your mother for anything else you can thank her for that. Happy Mother’s Day , Mother.
