Now that we have moved in there is still a lot of work to do, settling in after moving is still work. When I walk in from work or being out of town I realize that we are not finished just because we finally have everything in our new home. I also realize that this can be overwhelming. So how am I going to handle this part.
Well I am going to make myself a list. It might be 2 list, one of things that just have to be done, because if I don’t bills won’t get paid and things like that. The second list is going to be things I just want to do. It is going to be pretty long range and will need to consider timing and budget.
So let’s talk about the things that just have to be done.
Necessary Things To Do When You Move
- You have to change your address and you have to change it in a lot of places. For example, your bank needs to know you moved.
- You have to change all your service providers over, like electricity, gas, cable, internet provider, and even your cell phone service needs to know you moved.
- The Post office needs to know you moved. When we first moved in I put an envelope in the mail box to go out. For 3 days our USPS carrier ignored the flag. I am still not sure what he was thinking, but until I registered our change of address with the post office they did not pick it up.
After you do those necessary things you can begin to make it your own. I think this is the fun part. I start to hang pictures up almost immediately. This drives my hubby crazy, but I want to make the place feel like home and if you rent, well command strips are fantastic!!.
Target is also running a sale on runners and home goods right now. I bought these fantastic runners to put down this long hall.
They offer free shipping as well. I am an affiliate there so credit is given to me if you order something from them, but where else is there to shop? 🙂
Honestly, Janet
