Since May 20th we have been on a roller coaster. Not a literal roller coaster but emotional one. I may have already told you but our house sold. It sold unexpectedly. We were thinking about selling sometime this year and someone asked to let a friend look at it. The friend of a friend looked at our house and loved it. Two day after she looked at it the family out of Georgia made an offer on it. Of course we accepted with a counter offer and all is history.
The selling of the house was the easy part. After the inspection, appraisal and then the infamous termite inspection I thought I was going to be sick. Each one of those are stressful to say the least, but the termite inspection was particularly stressful. I happened to be off that day and laid on the floor in our empty den and listened to the inspector tap on the floor under the house for about 2 hours. My nerves were shot. Hubby got home about 2/3 of the way through and he talked with the guy. Some work had to be done and we had about 1 week to get it done in.
We managed to find a contractor to do the work, but I will tell you, I forgot how many hoops you have to jump through to sell a house. It was not fun. I am so glad it is over with.
Now I am looking forward to doing some fun things. Like painting and some decor things. I want to continue to purge as well. I found things in closets that haven’t been used for 15 years. The pile of junk by the road was pretty big. The 2 truck loads of things we took to the Habitat Restore was pretty big also. There were dishes, twin beds, mattresses. It was things that were from the attic and garage.
When you have to move it somewhere else the attachment is gone pretty quick. I can not say that I am totally over keeping things, but moving has helped a lot.
Now that we have finished the actually moving of our belongings I am ready to make this house our home. I will take some pictures and post them. I am planning on doing 1 room at a time. Where should I start? That is the big question.
Maybe you guys could help me with this. I will post the pictures of each room and maybe you can give me some suggestions. Looking at it right now it seems overwhelming. I want to feel like the girl in the featured image!! Ha, ha. Seems funny but I do.
Let me know where I should start. Honestly, Janet
