Why do you think you need daily goals to stay out of the mess you’re in? Well, simply stated, we are so easily distracted and at the end of the day we are tired. So starting with a plan and trying to stay focused on some real daily goals can make life a lot less complicated.
Out Of Control
Remember the song, “Momma said there will be days like this? Well if there are ever times in the day that I feel like are out of control, that song comes to mind. The lyrics remind me of days that just seem to slip away and get out of control. Like I woke up with good intentions, but the day just didn’t pan out the way I wanted it to.
Nothing is more discouraging to our spirit then to wake up the next day with the exact same necessary things to accomplish on our plates and if they task linger for more than a week or two we eventually loose the desire to complete them. So, let’s find the way to change our out of control daily life today.

Set Daily Goals
I pretty much felt this way the whole month of June, like …..
A Storm Was Brewing
June
June did not go well for me and there were a number of reasons.
I had a lot going on. There were a few projects I needed to finish.
I was going on a big trip.
Always have work to worry about.
I like an organized clean house and in the back of my mind I want to finish organizing mine.
Someone always wants me to do something and I want to do it.
I felt like something was going to crash, mostly me!
You know what, the storm may have only been brewing in my head. Anyone ever been there? It is easy to think about all the tasks before you and start to panic. Not really having a plan or know how you’re going to get there. Take a deep breath and relax. Start with a goal or two and begin planning a few things.?
So, How Do We Get All Of It Done?
Monthly Goals
Every Month Start Reviewing
You need daily goals to stay out of trouble, but you have to look at the month first. Start the last week of each month looking ahead. The reason my June was so bad and I did not get the things done I wanted to was because I didn’t do this. Don’t ask me why I didn’t, maybe I was just in a summer slump. I glanced at June last year and I did sit down before the month and write some appointments and goals out. This year I did not.
Take the time to sit down a week or two before the next month. If you use your phone and can keep up with all the things you have to do or want to do, well, that is great. I can’t, I have tried and failed miserably at it. So that is why I use a bullet journal. At the end of each month I sit down, get out my colored pencils, markers, pens or whatever and start looking at the next month.
This is actually my favorite part of using a bullet journal. I like to sit down, write out my calendar and draw a little bit. Now I am not an artist, but I find doing this is somewhat therapeutic for me. I put the calendar on the page and decide how I am going to lay out the month on paper. You can see a few examples down here. I usually draw on one page and set the other page up for writing in.
Once you have your dates of the month jotted down you can start to fill in the page. Two year ago in January my daughter got married. The December and months before that were filled with dates and appointments, as well as plenty of contact numbers, email addresses and many other pieces of information.
This is a very broad look at the month. It helps to get an idea of some busy days you will have or even a FREE weekend you might end up with. :)sta
Weekly Goals
Sunday Night
Sunday night is the time to sit down and look at the week. This is the time to recall your appointments and set some goals up for the week. My goals are usually not complicated. I may have something specific I want to finish, like paint a piece of furniture or organize a closet. Maybe pack for a trip or clean out a cabinet.
The important thing about goals is they need to be written down. The reason I didn’t get anything done in June is because of this very thing. I didn’t sit down a single week in June and look at my calendar. If I had sat down and wrote out the things I wanted to do, some of them would have become a reality.
When your month is crazy busy, break down each week and fill it in.
You can do the same thing on a daily bases as well.
It is completely up to you.
Just remember, A Goal Not Written Down Is Just A Wish.
You don’t want just wishes filling your day, you want reality.
“A goal is a dream with a deadline.”
~ Napoleon Hill
Overwhelm
This is one of the reason you need daily goals to stay out of trouble. Overwhelm can be a big roadblock. It really can be the very feeling that causes you the inability to complete a task. Writing down the goals you have for the week can be the very motivator you need. The list of goals should not make you feel bound to it, like a list of demands. Weekly goals should help you with focus and direction.
As you write down the things you need to finish or accomplish put them in order of priority. For example, if you are going out of town on the first Monday of the week, well you may need to pack, but if you have Saturday free in your month, then another task that will take longer can become the goal for that day.
That is one thing I really love about a Bullet Journal, it is completely up to you what you put in there. It is completely up to you how you make it as well. The elements you do not want to leave out are the Monthly calendar, weekly events, appointments and daily tasks.
Writing down your goals will help keep you out of trouble and prevent overwhelm. It is when we look at the whole picture and do not set some priorities with our goals that can cause overwhelm.
Daily Goals
At A Glance
Each day or evening I glance at my journal. If I have set some weekly goals, like paint a piece of furniture I can decide if today is a good day for that. My goals are not BINDING, but I do use them to create the way my week will look.
I have just one little thing to say here, I always put people first. That maybe counter intuitive, but I just can not help that. So my goals for a day or week are not etched in stone. I like looking at them and being reminded of them. It helps keep me driven and focused. If I do not finish all of my goals for a month they just carry on to the next month.
Daily goals are the most focused and can also be the simplest. If you hate a task, like I HATE to do laundry, well, you can put that on your daily goal list and it may help to motivate you to get it done.
The daily goals are not to drive you crazy, but to help with prioritizing and keep us out of trouble with overwhelm and lack of motivation.
Why Do You Need Daily Goals To Stay Out Of Trouble?
- Motivation, everyone likes to check of a list.
- Clear priorities
- Prevent Overwhelm
- Keeps You Organized
- Helps With Time Management
These are just a few reasons we need daily goals. Daily goals jotted down in a bullet journal can prevent trouble as well as make our month go much smoother..
Why Write These Goals Down
To Transform Your Life
Taking the time to look closely at the month, think weekly about your commitments and make some daily goals can transform your life. If you already have it all together you would not need to read this post. Most of us do not have it all together. It may look that way but we don’t and committing to a system that works makes it easy. If you want to know how to Bullet Journal more specifically look here. How To Bullet Journal. ve
Supplies You Need To Start A Bullet Journal
If committing to a journal is too overwhelming then just try a notebook. Don’t make the task harder than it should be. It will change the way your week looks and give you a great sense of accomplishment when you complete task that you put on your goal sheet. None of the supplies above are going to guarantee success, but if you keep doing the things the same way, then nothing will change.
There a lots of ways to set daily goals and implement them. The bullet journal just happens to be my personal favorite, but there are goal sheets out there you can down load then they can be put in binder. Don’t let anything stop you from creating the life you love.
Everyone has the same amount of hours in day. Use yours efficiently and make your time more enjoyable. Honestly, Janet
